Name:  Amber Ott

Your Position at Agili:  Manager of Client Development and Chief Compliance Officer

Educational background:  High School in Wisconsin.  Bachelor’s degree from New York University, double major in Psychology and Romance Languages (an overly fancy way to say I studied French and Spanish).  MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia.

Describe your family:  I grew up with my parents and three sisters (a quiet, lazy household we certainly were not!).  Now, my life centers around my amazing husband Dave and our beautiful, hilarious and wildly energetic children Otis and Evelyn.

What motivates you?  An inherent drive to always be the best person I can be and make a positive impact on the teeny, tiny portion of the world I touch every day.

What are you hobbies/charities/sports (active or fan)?  I love spending time outside, both relaxing and being active – walking, hiking, Frisbee, camping, fishing, laying on the beach – anything with the sun on my face and, preferably, a nice breeze!  I also enjoy reading, sewing and crocheting.

What is your favorite childhood memory?  My family’s annual family vacations.  We would drive, no matter how far, to some sort of low key vacation destination and make a bunch of fun for ourselves.

What was your favorite vacation or what is your favorite vacation spot?  My favorite vacation was my honeymoon to Hawaii, which we actually took on our first year anniversary.  Spending two weeks with my favorite person in the world in one of the most beautiful places in the world will be hard to ever top!  A close second though is the week I spent in Holden Beach, NC with my family immediately after graduating with my MBA.  Rolling out of our tiny beach cottage in the morning to look for shells, build sand castles and romp in the ocean gave us the family time we so desperately needed at that moment.  It was pure joy.

What is your most memorable or favorite book?  One Hundred Years of Solitude.  I love great stories, and this is a great story!  In the non-fiction category, I’d say anything by Malcolm Gladwell, though I’d probably name Outliers as my favorite if you twisted my arm.

What is your most memorable or favorite movie?  What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

What is your favorite food or type of food?  French bistro!
