What is a career highlight for you?

A career highlight is the first time (of several) that I discovered the power of using strategic Social Security planning for married couples. By analyzing the ages at which the spouses collected their own benefit and their spousal benefit (which are different concepts), we were able to recommend a strategy to a couple that enabled them to collect over $40,000 in additional benefits from Social Security merely by changing the timing of their claims. At Agili, we look at claiming strategies both in terms of the amount one collects from the government as well as the effect of this additional income on the projected annual cash flow during retirement.

More About Elissa

What brings me joy are my fur-kids, past and present, both Basset Hounds and kitties. They bring a smile to my heart no matter what else is going on in life.

What excites me about my work is tax planning! I’m a bit of a tax nerd. And any other planning work I can do to help our clients plan for the future, whether it be retirement planning, educational funding planning, planning for potential problems by way of appropriate insurance coverage, or planning for the inevitable end by encouraging people to have their estates in order.

My favorite meal is bi bim bop.
